People often wonder how therapy helps them. Is therapy worth the time, money and effort?
Yes. I believe it is and here’s why. Therapy offers a safe space to share your concerns. In therapy you should experience feeling understood and validated by a caring therapist who is non judgmental and unbiased. Participating in therapy consistently gives you greater insights into yourself and what is keeping your problem in place.
How therapy helps you depends on you primarily and varies from person to person. It is a collaborative relationship between a therapist and yourself like none other, but it must be a good fit. As with any good thing, of course, it takes time and a consistent effort to see any measurable results on how therapy helps.
My Role as a Counselor
In my role as a counselor, I listen to your concerns non-judgmentally, offer understanding and compassion, guide you on a path to better mental health and give you the tools you need.
I use tools depending on you and your situation. We might work on assertiveness skills by learning how to communicate more directly, setting boundaries or taking action. Controlling anger and unforgiveness could be an issue. Some people need help setting boundaries. I encourage clients to take action when warranted. I help with clients cope better or learn conflict resolutions skills.
Various counseling strategies and techniques offer new insights to help you find a clear path forward. I help you get unstuck. Being able to talk it out with a compassionate therapist like me is so much more effective than just talking to a friend.
Each treatment plan is tailored to fit your needs. Someone might benefit from Emotionally Focused Therapy whereas a couple might work better with The Gottman Method.
Due to my extensive trainings and experience with individuals and couples, I am an objective participant in your life for as long as you need or want. I have the ability to see what is hidden and what is keeping you from reaching your own dreams and goals. Therapy is about learning what changes need to be made and making changes in your life for the better.
I believe, challenges in life can be an opportunity to change for the better and let go of what no longer helps you.If you are considering therapy, you are probably in a decent amount of pain and are emotionally distressed. You are tired of searching for answers and coming up empty. My role as a counselor is to help you find the answers that elude you.
